Accreditation review praises leadership and PLC work, flags safety and strategic‑plan updates

Educational services director Megan Fouts and the admin team presented findings from the WDE peer‑review and related climate surveys. The peer review and internal surveys highlighted strengths: strong leadership focused on instruction, instructional‑practice alignment (PLC work), implementation of evidence‑based grading at 6–12, MTSS work in K–5 and a strong sense of belonging across schools (SEG 854–904; SEG 900–920).

Recommendations focused on areas for improvement: (1) student and staff safety and emergency operating plans, including a visitor‑management pilot already underway at the high school; (2) updating the district strategic plan with broader stakeholder input (the plan had not been revised with wide stakeholder input since 2016–17); (3) aligning and improving website access and communications for families; and (4) curriculum alignment to new WDE adoption timelines, which will increase elementary‑teacher workload due to multiple content areas (SEG 964–1040; SEG 990–1012).

Trustees asked clarifying questions about the peer‑review scoring methodology and the Panorama climate‑survey scales; staff explained composite favorable/unfavorable scoring and how those results drove instructional priorities (SEG 1276–1392). Trustees also requested student survey results and suggested follow‑up on absenteeism trends traced to several causes; staff said they were working with county attorneys and partners to identify interventions (SEG 1116–1124; SEG 1230–1240).
