Board hears update on Aramark pilot at Geysa Field; enforcement reported written warning and an administrative violation

Joe Radmacher, compliance and adjudications staff in the licensing division, updated the board caucus on Feb. 3 about the pilot program approved for Aramark to offer beer and wine sales and in-seat consumption at Geysa Field.
"We're here today to provide an update, on the pilot program that was approved for Aramark at WSU to begin beer and wine sales and consumption in general seating at Geysa Field for football games," Radmacher said, describing the licensing approval on Sept. 10, 2025 and follow-up monitoring by enforcement.
Captain Jeremy Wissing reported enforcement attended four home games to evaluate adherence to the pilot conditions. He gave staffing counts for those events — seven officers at the Apple Cup, one at the second game, eight at the third, and four at the fourth — and said enforcement issued a written warning after the Apple Cup for inconsistent ID checking and handoffs of alcohol, noted problems with marking containers leaving the premises in subsequent games, and issued an administrative violation notice after the fourth game for violations of the submitted operating plan.
Radmacher said enforcement and licensing held follow-ups with Aramark after each game and will meet with university and Fairmark representatives on April 15 to discuss findings and next steps before issuing a formal recommendation based on the pilot.
Board members thanked staff for the update; no board action was taken at the caucus.
