Boone County board approves multiple contracts, bids and claims totaling nearly $929,000

The board also approved Ordinance 26-26-06, which repeals Boone County Code Chapter 70, Article 1, Section 70-5 (incident assessment of improvements), following a motion and roll call.
Finance actions included approval of claims totaling $928,677.23; the motion recorded an understanding that Commissioner Carl Johnson would abstain from voting on claims presented by certain vendors and items from the county highway department. The board approved a series of procurement items and contracts: a $39,900 proposal from Audio Engineering to install access-control doors in county buildings; a barricade bid award to Safe Traffic System Inc. for $7,705.50; a low-bid award for the North School Road project to M & M Concrete for $623,903; a truck body purchase from Monroe Truck Equipment for $165,608; and a $132,772 agreement with Willett Hoffman & Associates for Poplar Grove Road paved shoulder work.
All motions were seconded and carried by roll call during the meeting. Several commissioners thanked staff for preparedness and noted that prior studies, grants and engineering work informed the recommendations. Where abstentions or vendor-specific limits were articulated (for example, the conditional abstention by Commissioner Johnson on specified claims), the board recorded those conditions as part of the motion.
No final policy changes to the county code or large capital projects were adopted beyond contract awards and the repeal noted above; details and next steps for projects will be handled by the responsible county departments and project managers.
