Moroni — The Moroni City Council voted Feb. 19 to adopt a fiscal-year 2026 budget amendment and a separate resolution authorizing the mayor to certify authorized individuals on the Utah State Treasurer's public-entity form, in actions council leaders said were needed to remain within state code.
Councilmember Fred Atkinson moved to approve the FY2026 budget amendment (Resolution 2026-2-19a); Councilmember Kevin Taylor seconded. The council conducted a roll-call vote and the motion passed with recorded affirmative responses.
Later the council considered Resolution 2026-2-19b, a public-entity banking authorization to update certified signatories. Councilmember Jake Bagley moved the measure; Draper seconded. The measure passed in a roll-call vote.
In other formal business the council opened and accepted high bids for multiple surplus vehicles. The council voted to accept the highest bids where motions were offered, including the International truck (highest recorded bid $1,231 from Fernando Cervantes) and a 2016 Dodge Charger (highest recorded bid $8,500 from Miguel Tenorio). The council also accepted the highest bid for a Chevy Impala and other vehicles during the sealed-bid openings.
The council approved a contract discussed in the meeting record (referred to in minutes as the "Miss Moroni" contract) after a brief review of its terms. Councilmember Atkinson moved to accept the contract and Taylor seconded; the motion passed.
Minutes from prior meetings were corrected (attendance listing for Councilmember Paxton was removed where appropriate) and approved by vote. The council also approved a formal Moroni Youth Council application and agreement and adopted a revised 2026 irrigation schedule to allow midweek maintenance.
Actions taken were procedural and routine; no ordinance adoptions or zoning votes were recorded during the session.
