Executive Ethics Board elects Megan Abel as chair, names Cam vice chair

The Executive Ethics Board on Jan. 9 elected Megan Abel as its new chair and selected Cam as vice chair, continuing the panel’s customary seniority practice.
Board staff member Kate Reynolds told the board that historically the vice chair moves into the chair role and the next most senior member becomes vice chair, though the board is not bound to follow that pattern. "So someone just needs to make a motion and second, and you vote," Reynolds said during the election discussion.
A motion to elect Megan Abel was made and seconded and carried by voice vote. Board members then moved and seconded to appoint Cam as vice chair; that motion likewise passed by voice vote. The board noted the formal transfer of duties will occur after the meeting.
The leadership change was discussed briefly amid other governance business, including routine approvals of the meeting agenda and corrections to prior minutes. The board’s election follows its stated practice of advancing officers by seniority unless members decide otherwise.
The board reconvened later to take enforcement votes and to consider advisory-opinion and rulemaking matters.
