Energy Northwest asks FSEC for expedited SEPA review of Columbia Generating Station warehouse proposal

Energy Northwest asked FSEC for an expedited SEPA determination by Feb. 2 after Image Northwest submitted a SEPA checklist on Jan. 15 for two warehouses at Columbia Generating Station; staff said the submission is under review and a fuller update will be provided in February.
Representatives for Columbia Generating Station told the Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council that Image Northwest submitted a SEPA checklist on Jan. 15 proposing construction of two warehouses on the Columbia Generating Station site.
Katie Hall, speaking for the station, said Energy Northwest requested an SX determination by Feb. 2 and urged expedited review because the SEPA decision may affect a compressed refueling outage schedule "which is critical for operational readiness and regional energy reliability." FSEC staff confirmed the checklist and related materials are under review and said staff will provide a more comprehensive update at the council's February meeting.
Staff also noted they are reviewing plans and plan components for code compliance and will coordinate milestones appropriate for environmental review and compliance with the site's site certification agreement.
