San Bernardino — Staff reported measurable progress from the Love Your Block neighborhood program at Tuesday’s meeting, saying year‑one work led to completed community projects, volunteer engagement and a slate of new public‑space improvements.
The staff presentation said the program fully funded 11 projects in year one, attracted more than $24,000 in donated materials and food, engaged over 400 volunteers and recorded more than 480 volunteer hours. Staff listed 41 new features installed across projects (murals, trees, signs and landscaping), and nearly 25,000 pounds of trash removed through cleanups.
Year‑two of Love Your Block will focus on Route 66: applications opened Feb. 14 and will remain open through March 31, with awards announced around Earth Day in late April and projects to be completed by August 31. Staff said they will provide TA (technical assistance) hours, community park hours and on‑site support for applicants.
What happens next: Residents may apply at sbcity.org/loveyourblock. Staff said they will schedule community outreach dates on Mount Vernon and will meet applicants on site to help finalize proposals.
