Committee adopts amendments and committee substitutes early in session; two items passed 17–0
Summary
Before public testimony the Committee on Children and Families adopted an amendment to cap a legal expense fund and voted committee substitutes on two sets of bills; both motions carried unanimously, 17–0.
At the outset of the meeting the committee conducted executive business and approved two committee actions by voice and roll call.
Chair Jones moved that House Bill 26 10 (Murphy; state legal expense fund) be given a "do pass" recommendation. Members adopted an amendment (ending in .01H) that would cap the fund created by the bill at $1,000,000, rolled the amendment into a House committee substitute, and adopted the substitute. The committee then voted the House committee substitute for House Bill 26 10 "do pass" by roll call, 17 ayes, 0 noes.
The committee then considered a committee substitute combining House Bills 18 39, 29 21 and 30 15 (age verification bills). The substitute was adopted and the committee voted the substitute "do pass" by roll call, 17 ayes, 0 noes.
Those two roll‑call votes were the only formal actions recorded before the committee moved into public testimony on other bills later in the session.
