The Hibbing City Council approved a broad consent agenda and completed routine reorganizational actions on Jan. 8.
The consent agenda included accounts payable for periods ending Dec. 27, 2024 and Jan. 7, 2025 (checks numbered in the 179,000s), payroll ending Dec. 27 of $498,372.01, updates to job descriptions, promotions and personnel actions (including promotions in the police department), various liquor and massage therapy license renewals, permits for community raffles and events, and letters of support for multiple projects. The council approved the consent agenda by voice vote.
Councilors also designated Park State Bank, US Bank, Wells Fargo and other institutions as depositories for 2025; designated Andy Borland as the city attorney for 2025; set the mayor’s contingency fund at $5,000; and established regular meeting and workshop schedules for the first and third Wednesdays at 5 p.m.
Other approved items included the appointment of Sheena Moller as deputy clerk, Aaron Shermer as deputy treasurer, and the selection of representatives to regional boards and committees. The council approved purchase of new refuse carts and a Komatsu wheel loader as budgeted 2025 equipment purchases and appointed Tammy Wostron as the HRA resident commissioner (term correction noted to end Dec. 31, 2029).
