Hibbing council appoints members to multiple boards and commissions

Hibbing‑Chisholm Airport Authority: After nominations the council selected Mike Furlong for the one‑year term. Councilors praised both nominated candidates and the vote passed with the required support.
Hibbing Economic Development Authority (HEDA): Jim Skalski was nominated and confirmed for the 6‑year term beginning April 1, 2026 and ending Dec. 31, 2031; roll call votes were recorded in the meeting.
Housing Redevelopment Authority: Darlene Mikic was announced as the HRA appointee. Human Rights Commission: Tiffany Schleppergrove and Wendy Griffiths were both nominated and, with council agreement, approved for three‑year terms ending Dec. 31, 2028. Planning Commission: Jared Lubin, the single applicant, was nominated and confirmed for a three‑year term.
Council discussed improving the nomination process by videotaping candidate interviews so all councilors can see applicants' answers and better evaluate candidates who cannot attend meetings in person. The council thanked all applicants and staff for participation in the selection process.
