In remarks accompanying the resolution, Miss Howard described the Lunar New Year as a 12-year cyclic calendar used in many Asian cultures and identified 2026 as the Year of the Horse, describing it as a time for families and new opportunities. "The House Asian Caucus warmly wishes everyone a happy Lunar New Year," she said.
The resolution is symbolic and requires no further action by committees. Following the adoption, the House proceeded to routine business and other orders on the calendar.
