UI advisory committee shortens legislative-session meetings, adopts 2026 schedule

The UI Advisory Committee voted Dec. 10 to adopt a proposed 2026 meeting schedule that shortens meetings held during the legislative session. Committee members agreed to move those sessions to 30-minute slots on Fridays from 3:30 to 4 p.m.
Josie Cummings moved to approve the proposed 2026 schedule and Julia Gorton seconded. The committee approved the motion by voice vote with no recorded opposition. Chair JR said the schedule will be forwarded to the code reviser's office and noted the change will be reflected in meeting minutes.
The committee debated two options before the vote: the shorter Friday sessions or one full-hour Thursday per month during session. Multiple members, including James Crandall and Josie Cummings, said the 30-minute Friday option was acceptable based on recent practice and short session-focused agendas.
