Agencies report pilot provider recruitment progress; 18 of 19 services covered in pilot counties

Andrea Miva Sanchez told the commission that providers have begun registering for the pilot and that in the pilot counties applicants cover 18 of the 19 approved services, with the primary gap being home safety evaluations. "So far in our pilot counties, we have 18 out of the 19 approved services. Folks have applied to provide those services in the pilot counties," she said. The majority of registered providers are home personal care agencies; the program also has adult family homes and professional nursing services prepared to participate.
Sanchez said the program will continue provider outreach in the coming weeks to recruit remaining service types and to build a broader provider network ahead of statewide implementation. She described roughly 70–79 unique providers engaged so far. The pilot will also test provider workflows for provider registration, the provider authorizations system and billing interactions with the Health Care Authority.
Commissioners and members of the public asked about nonunion options for individual providers and whether family caregivers would face union dues; a public commenter said webinars had indicated ties to the Consumer Direct Care Network of Washington and SEIU Healthcare 775. Agency staff said they would provide more information about provider registration options and about whether alternative arrangements would be available in the future.
