City orders emergency repairs at Maryknoll Lift Station after pump failure; cost expected below $100,000

A follow‑up confined‑space inspection confirmed the extent of mechanical deterioration, and public works staff said the station will require full mechanical reconstruction with exterior excavation and partial force‑main replacement to restore normal operations. Staff said they are finalizing a scope of work and meeting with three contractors this week to begin emergency repairs and that a contract award will be brought to the council after the work is authorized and underway. Public works estimated the repair cost will remain under $100,000.
Council members asked whether the valves and pumps had been maintained regularly; public works said the station, built in 1960, has hardware that has not always been turned or inspected and that staff will review other similar stations as well. The mayor directed staff to proceed with repairs and to present the subsequent contract for council ratification.
