Hibbing council approves agenda, authorizes water utility extension request and grants transient merchant permit

The Hibbing City Council completed several routine actions July 31 following consultant presentations on a proposed public safety center.
Early in the meeting the council voted to approve the agenda after Councilor Bayless moved to adopt it with Councilor Faso providing support. The motion carried on a voice vote.
On the consent agenda the council authorized the mayor to sign and send a Public Utilities Commission request for a public water utility extension to the new Mineview site. Councilor Bayless moved to approve the consent item; Councilor Hildebrand supported the motion. During discussion a staff or consultant representative said construction of the utility extension is planned for this fall with a kickoff in mid-September; the motion carried.
The council also approved the 2024 transient merchant application for I Heart Cookies. The motion to approve and support were recorded in the meeting transcript and the item carried on a voice vote.
The meeting ended after a motion to adjourn was moved and seconded and carried on a voice vote.
