The borough’s emergency manager said the generator shipment had been delayed multiple times and that while the vendor now expects the unit to arrive and be placed by March 31, full installation (including dirt work and sprinkler/fire-pump integration) will take longer. "We will have it in place by March 31, but definitely not installed all the way," the emergency manager said, noting grant closeout rules limit reimbursement for installation costs after March 31.
Staff explained that fire-pump requirements introduced additional scope and expense during the design and procurement phase. The assembly approved the ordinance by roll-call vote after discussion about the installation timeline and the need for a small contingency in case spring prices or logistics increased costs. The emergency manager said staff would follow up and, if necessary, seek additional appropriation for installation to ensure the generator is operational.
