Norton parks board sets Green Up Day for April 11; rain date April 18

Board members said volunteers will meet at the Norton community center in the morning and split into teams to clean parks and public spaces from about 9 to 11 a.m., followed by a tree-planting ceremony at Columbia Woods Park expected to begin around 11:15 a.m. Organizers plan to post sign-up information on social media and the downtown electronic sign and distribute flyers and waiver/sign-up sheets to schools and volunteers.
A board member noted the city will provide refreshments for volunteers and confirmed arrangements for check-in and waiver processing; volunteers who take a spot or sign up will receive on-site instructions. The board thanked local donor Nikki, owner of Springtime Flowers by the Norton Primary School, for providing downtown planters and corner pots at no cost to the city.
Board members also discussed logistics for distributing flyers and collating waiver packets and agreed to finalize materials and notify volunteers once sign-up sheets are ready. The meeting did not include formal action on funding for the event.
