Residents urge transparency on proposed sewer-rate increase; Old Town stormwater issues raised

Steven Fitton asked the city to publish full details of a proposed sewer-rate increase well before the March 16 hearing so residents can review the proposal and its household impact. "It is only fair to provide us with information to review the proposals ... before the March 16 hearing," Fitton said, urging the city to leverage all communication channels to announce the materials.
David Schafer addressed long-running Old Town infrastructure problems, saying incomplete projects and poor construction have left pavement and stormwater systems in a condition that creates recurring flooding for residents. He asked the council to reconsider prior actions and take appropriate remedial steps for Old Town.
Other public speakers praised the council's leadership on stormwater and infrastructure and urged continued advocacy for Boone Bridge funding. Councilors acknowledged the public's request for earlier access to staff reports and said they were working to get materials out sooner to facilitate informed comment ahead of hearings.
