The Wachusett Regional School District Committee approved its consent agenda, accepted a $500 donation from the Wachusett Garden Club to fund the Lisa’s Pollinator Club at Thomas Prince School, and approved multiple policy actions during tonight’s meeting.
A motion to approve the consent agenda — which included approval of the 10/06/2025 regular-session minutes and the $500 donation — passed by voice vote. Later, the committee adopted policy 3370 (middle-school pathway exploration) on second reading after waiving the reading and approved policy 6638 relating to service animals in schools on second reading. The committee also voted to delete policy 4650 (Treasurer) and passed a first-reading amendment to policy 4280 (gifts, grants and bequests) following consultation with administration and an MSAC reference policy.
On policy 7162 (sponsorship and advertising), a member raised concerns about gender-neutral language. Rather than approve the motion, the committee voted to refer policy 7162 back to the policy subcommittee specifically to review gender-neutral language and any additional revisions.
Motions were moved and seconded as entered in the record; approvals were conducted by voice vote with the chair calling the question. No roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript.
Next steps: policy subcommittee will review policy 7162 for gender-neutral language and bring any suggested revisions back to the full committee.
