Principal Michael Pratt presented a broad set of proposed course additions for Wachusett Regional High School at the Dec. meeting of the Wachusett Regional School District Committee, saying the package is intended to ‘‘expand access, eliminate barriers, and broaden opportunities’’ for students.
Pratt told the committee he expects a total of 44 new course offerings if approved, including three Advanced Placement courses — AP Human Geography and AP Physics 1 (an algebra‑based course) and the newly offered AP Business and Finance course. ‘‘According to the College Board, AP Human Geography is recommended for grade 9 students,’’ Pratt said, adding that AP Physics 1 will be limited to students who have ‘‘completed Algebra I very successfully.’’ He said counselors and teachers will meet with grade‑8 students and families to identify appropriate candidates.
