A district official said two gifts to date for the fiscal year came from BDL Heating & Cooling and Priority 1 Plumbing & Heating; the owner of both businesses was identified in the meeting as Brian Lithway. "One of the ways we're able to recognize their generosity is by recognizing them on the scoreboard," the presenter said.
Committee members asked for context: the presenter said last year’s comparable total was $32,500 and that the district is reviewing its policy language on gifts (a policy‑review subcommittee is working through the K policies). Members suggested the committee should revisit the policy overall to ensure appropriate transparency and limits on advertising or promotion.
A motion to accept the donations and temporarily suspend Policy KCD was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; the clerk announced the motion carried with seven votes in favor. Committee members noted that any donor recognition does not replace required procurement or municipal approvals and that the district will record use of funds for accounting and reporting purposes.
