Board approves consent agenda and multiple policies on first reading, moves to executive session and approves personnel actions

After approving the revised agenda and consent agenda by voice vote, the board approved several policies on first reading. District staff presented proposed updates including AC (nondiscrimination language realignment to current regulations), DKC (expense authorization and reimbursement) with travel subsections merged and DKCA recommended for deletion, DO (GASB compliance) language cleanup, GBC (code of ethics) expanded to explicitly include board members and volunteers, and JIE/JIG (married and pregnant students) clarifying enrollment and participation procedures. A trustee moved and the board approved the set of policies on first reading.
Under new business, staff reported summer-school participation (elementary programs served 274 students; KinderBoost had 259 incoming kindergarten students; junior-high readiness served 43 students; high-school credit-recovery involved 65 students with 96 courses recouped; John C. Schiffer students recovered several courses) and provided an enrollment update showing the district was down 42 students on the eleventh day of school compared with the same date last year.
Near the end of the meeting, the chair moved to recess into executive session at 6:53 p.m. to consider personnel matters related to appointment or employment of district employees and to receive information classified as confidential by law, citing Wyoming Statute 16-4-405(a)(ii) and 16-4-405(a)(ix). The motion carried. The board returned to open session at 7:24 p.m., then moved to approve the revised personnel action report as presented by voice vote. The meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
What happens next: Board will consider reappointment items for several trustee seats in November and will receive school improvement plans from principals in upcoming months.
