Burke framed the plan around four pillars: digital transformation (teaching and learning), operational excellence (infrastructure and devices), data collection and security, and staff empowerment. Year 1 focuses on auditing existing systems and listening to stakeholders; Year 2 on executing improvements such as cable and access‑point upgrades and wider single sign‑on; Year 3 on optimization and predictable device replacement cycles.
Burke highlighted wireless optimization pilots in some buildings and a strategy to reduce downtime by repairing devices locally and standardizing replacement schedules. She also proposed role‑based (least privilege) security and security‑awareness training for staff and students, plus a centralized, on‑demand training hub and a train‑the‑trainer model so each building has local technology facilitators.
Trustees asked whether schools are currently wired to meet future needs; Burke said two buildings required cable and network upgrades and that the district is working through those. Members urged consideration of contracting to fill security or staffing gaps and suggested single sign‑on that would simplify parent access to PowerSchool, Schoology, PaySchools and other apps. Burke said the plan includes provisions for centralized resources for teachers and a schedule for implementation, and she invited follow‑up conversations with trustees and staff.
