Human resources staff presented a regulation recommended by the Armed Educator Committee. Under the approved regulation, each armed educator will receive a $500 stipend payable in two equal installments (December and May). The regulation also authorizes reimbursement for ammunition expenses incurred during required training, and it provides that staff will be compensated for training completed on non‑contract days at the district’s standard professional development hourly rate.
District staff said the Armed Educator Committee worked through several wording and implementation questions and offered the compensation framework as a committee recommendation. Trustees approved the regulation by motion, second and unanimous voice vote.
Board members and staff indicated the committee will continue to provide details and the full recommended compensation schedule to trustees as needed.
