Parks master-plan survey nears 750 responses; residents prioritize trails, soccer fields and restrooms

Blake, the consultant on the court/plan, briefed the commission on early results from the parks master-plan survey and related public-input work.
As of the last staff push, Blake said the survey had 686 responses on Friday and 746 as of the following morning. He noted roughly 20% of respondents live outside the city and speculated that organized sports user groups and other nonresident stakeholders were mobilizing responses. Blake said the largest respondent age group was parents aged 45–59.
Respondents generally rated shelters, playgrounds, trails and aquatic facilities as good or excellent. The most frequently cited needs were resurfacing and maintenance of trails, more soccer fields and improved restroom access and quality. Dog-park management and pickleball court requests also appeared frequently in open-ended responses.
Blake said staff will fold these survey results and other PIM (public-input meeting) data into recommendations for the final draft of the plan, which staff hope to present in final form in May.
