Board approves $127,300 in grounds equipment purchases; Trustee Rambert recuses on both

The Sheridan County School District No. 2 Board approved two grounds-equipment purchases intended to improve winter snow removal and year-round grounds maintenance.
Facilities director Mr. Decker described operational needs: "Timely snow removal is important to the school district. By about 06:37 in the morning, we have to have all the snow removed from all sites in order for building occupants to have safe access," and recommended replacing older tractors with more versatile equipment.
Bids and approvals: - Bobcat Toolcat (utility vehicle) ' recommended purchase from C and K Equipment (Sheridan) for $90,300; payment from the general fund. Mr. Decker said Toolcat versatility justified the purchase and highlighted the benefit of having a local dealership for parts and service. - Compact tractor ' three bids received; C and K Equipment submitted a complete bid for $37,000 and was recommended. Another bid from C&B/John Deere was $52,409; Torgersen's bid was marked incomplete. Board approved the C and K Equipment bid for $37,000 using general funds.
Trustee Rambert announced a conflict of interest and did not vote on both procurement motions. Trustee Moore asked whether the purchases were budgeted; Decker said they were anticipated as part of asset replacement and that the district sought dealer incentives at year-end.
Both motions passed by voice vote. The district indicated the older equipment will be disposed of or sold as appropriate.
