Board hears facilities and professional‑development updates and approves personnel actions after executive session

Facilities director Decker briefed the board on summer projects across district schools: installation of a two‑way mirror observation window at Highland Park to support reading‑recovery observations; completion of Sheridan High School tennis courts; concrete grinding to address sidewalk trip hazards; ag lab plumbing and electrical work for movable lab tables; refinished gym floors and new ADA‑compliant bleachers; and completion of playground surfacing. Decker said many projects were completed on budget and invited trustees to see the sites.
Principal Swan described the observation window as a reading‑recovery professional‑development tool that allows staff to observe strategies without transporting students to another site.
Director of professional development Gariffa summarized summer training offerings (responsive literacy, PLC refreshers, ALICE, CPI, PBIS) and said an all‑staff session titled "Living, Working, and Learning with AI" will be held Aug. 21 for roughly 600 staff, with secondary teachers receiving additional breakout sessions. She explained that some PD is funded through district general funds and grants (Title I/II), while graduate‑credit courses are employee‑paid.
The board recessed into executive session at 8:14 p.m. to consider personnel matters under Wyoming statute 16‑4‑405(a)(ii) and (ix). After returning to regular session, trustees approved a revised personnel action report by motion and adjourned the meeting at 9:15 p.m.
Trustees thanked facilities and PD staff for the work completed over the summer and asked staff to follow up with implementation details and scheduling for site visits and PD evaluations.
