Summary
The commission presented four 2025 Historic Preservation Awards to owners and contractors for rehabilitation and restoration projects across Santa Ana neighborhoods and invited recipients forward for photos and brief remarks.
The City of Santa Ana Historic Resource Commission opened its administrative session by announcing the 2025 Historic Preservation Awards and recognizing four projects for rehabilitation and restoration work.
Chair Marashi identified the awards and staff provided brief overviews: OC Drafting and Design received a rehabilitation award for the Kossman House (424 S. Broadway); owner Saimak Sayami and BN Design Build Inc. (Benjamin Noorizzi) were recognized for restoring a rare 1920s bungalow court at 616–618 S. Venice Avenue; owner Tetsuya Taguchi and contractor Mahesh Abbasi were honored for repairs to a 1920s bungalow at 606 S. Venice Avenue; and Sanus Design and Construction was commended for restoring windows and exterior features at 821 S. Venice Avenue.
Pedro Gomez offered project descriptions and several award recipients thanked the commission. Commissioners who served on the selection subcommittee — including Commissioner Hardy and Commissioner Almendral — were acknowledged. Recipients and commissioners gathered for a group photograph following the presentations.
The awards were presented as part of the administrative session and did not require a commission vote.
