President Buecher opened discussion about the change, noting the Silver Lake building will be put on the market and that planned ADA rehabilitation has been delayed. A board member said moving the April, August and November 2026 polling locations to Village Hall will save staff time and reduce confusion for voters. Trustee 7 urged the board to notify residents broadly: "I would strongly encourage this board, to emphasize a mass mailing to everyone in the village where their locations are."
Trustees debated capacity and access concerns, including whether Village Hall can handle multiple polling stations during higher-turnout elections. Staff said the village uses centralized check-in technology to speed turnout and will provide yard signs, postcards and website/social media updates; the administrator said signage will be placed at the old Silver Lake hall and Wilmot to direct voters to the new locations. Board members agreed the arrangement can be reassessed after the 2026 elections.
A motion to approve the resolution was made, seconded and adopted by roll-call vote with all trustees recorded as voting yes. The board also discussed additional outreach options, including early placement of banners or yard signs and postcards to households.
The resolution takes effect for the 2026 election cycle; trustees said they will reassess polling locations after that year once ADA work on the Silver Lake building is complete or if community feedback indicates changes are needed.
