Lodi High to dedicate newly named aquatic center and pool March 11

Lodi High School staff presented the naming and dedication plan for the newly completed aquatic center and pool at the Lodi Unified School Board meeting on Feb. 17. The naming committee — formed during the 2024–25 school year with students, ASB representatives and staff — recommended recognizing community contributors with a Christie Family Aquatic Center sign and a John and Cindy Griffin pool plaque.
Ceremony and details: The district described a bronze dedication plaque (to be installed behind the diving boards) and a metal brushed sign for the aquatic center entrance; an official public dedication is scheduled for March 11 at Lodi High, 4:00–4:30 p.m., to coincide with a Lodi High home swimming meet. Staff and students invited the community to attend.
Program context: Presenters highlighted athletic accomplishments since the pool’s opening (first water polo game Oct. 24, 2023; multiple athletes advancing to collegiate competition and league championships) and thanked maintenance and operations staff for preparing the facility.
Board comments: Board members congratulated Lodi High staff and coaches for the facility and praised the families and volunteers who supported the project.
Representative quote: "This project represents more than just a facilities enhancement. It reflects the collaboration, pride and commitment of the entire Lodi High community," said a district presenter.
No board vote was required for the naming presentation; the board accepted the report and the district will proceed with the March dedication.
