Sumner County proclaims Oct. 14 'Charlie Kirk Day' and will send copy to Turning Point USA

The Sumner County Board of County Commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution on Sept. 16 designating Oct. 14 as Charlie Kirk Day in the county. Commissioner Harrison introduced resolution 2509-26, which praises Kirk’s public work and calls on citizens to reflect on civic engagement.
Commissioner Teichner yielded his time to explain the language and motivations for the proclamation; the board added a friendly amendment — unanimously approved — to send a copy of the proclamation to Turning Point USA. A separate proposal to name a street at the Liberty Creek campus after Kirk was discussed but the chair ruled that such a street-naming should be handled by the highway committee at a later meeting because the road has not yet been adopted.
The resolution passed without recorded opposition. Commissioners spoke briefly about the motivation to honor the individual’s influence and noted procedural limits on naming public infrastructure during the same session.
