Commission ratifies planning director appointment; honors retiring finance and planning staff and 911 leader

The commission ratified the appointment of Marshall Boyd as director of planning and engineering; Mayor Isbell described the move as a succession plan tied to Josh Suddath’s departure. "Marshall will be elevating Sydney Simpson to the county planner position," the mayor said when explaining the succession steps.
Commissioners also adopted resolutions recognizing David Long for 16 years as director of finance and Josh Suddath for more than seven years leading planning and engineering; both received standing acknowledgments and spoke briefly. The commission honored Richard “Buddy” Schaeffer with a resolution recognizing his decades of service to emergency communications and his selection as an honorary lifetime member of the Tennessee Emergency Number Association.
These items passed by voice vote during the meeting’s recognition section. The commission also approved routine committee reports, renamed a street (Evelyn Court to East and West Evelyn Court), and ratified appointments to judicial magistrate and planning vacancies on committee recommendations.
