Trustee Velez summarized the Buildings & Grounds committee report on Feb. 9, saying the state security walkthrough provided positive feedback and "minor recommendations," including a recommendation "to lock the other access doors for teachers and staff and to have everyone enter through the main entrance during school hours." The committee characterized the findings as generally favorable but recommended tightening access control during school hours.
Velez also said the district’s grant-funded projects are in a final phase: heat has been installed in the cafeteria and gym. She added that Roosevelt and Grama schools are next on the schedule and will require significant work, including trenching by PSE&G; that work will require the buildings to be unoccupied while utilities work proceeds.
The board did not vote on capital projects during the meeting; the Buildings & Grounds report indicated more information will be provided as the projects near completion.
