The St. Croix County Administration Committee unanimously approved a resolution urging Wisconsin to establish state-level membership in the Multistate Information Sharing and Analysis Center (MS-ISAC).
John Allegro told the committee that federal funding for MS-ISAC was reduced, converting it to a membership-funded model that shifted costs to local governments and institutions. Allegro said local subscription tiers rose from about $2,500 annually to roughly $5,000 for the first year for some members and that renewal costs could reach about $10,000 in 2026. He said a state-level commitment could cover the whole state for an estimated $795,000 and lower costs for smaller local entities and educational institutions.
Committee members asked whether other counties or states were pursuing similar actions; Allegro said there is momentum in other counties and that 17 states have made state-level commitments. The chair moved approval of the resolution and Counter seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
