The St. Croix County Administration Committee voted unanimously to set a $15,000 minimum opening bid for a Glenwood City tax-deed parcel (PIN 231-1000-60-000) after staff described the home as severely dilapidated and a realtor advised the parcel likely would not be worth marketing.
County clerk Christine said the realtor declined to market the property because of its condition and that the county had not cleaned the parcel. Counsel and staff reported the lot is narrow (about 25 feet) and that Glenwood City officials told the realtor the lot could be remodeled but not rebuilt, which likely limits redevelopment options. Corporate counsel identified current back taxes, assessments and fees totaling about $7,520.
Supervisors discussed demolition costs and whether the parcel’s sewer and water connections increased value, with some members noting adjacent owners might be the most likely buyers. Committee members proposed and settled on a $15,000 minimum bid; Supervisor Shirley moved to set the minimum, Long seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
Staff said the parcel will be advertised for sealed bids with a minimum; if no bids meet the floor the county will relist it without a floor and consider any later bids.
