Resident accuses school leaders of selective enforcement at polling site; board to review policy language

Lori Rogdi Eiler, a Moreland Hills resident and retired public school teacher, told the board she was concerned about selective enforcement of board policy 9700 at the Orange High School Athletic Center polling location on Nov. 4, 2025. She said Board of Elections rules already govern conduct at polling sites and urged consistent application of district policy.

"It is my hope that the board will ensure that selective enforcement of a board policy, whether rightfully or wrongfully, is not occurring with any of its policies and there are safeguards in place," she said. She added that the board president, who was running for re‑election at the time, informed poll workers that distribution of political literature "couldn't be done," and that a district employee, Ted Roseberry, became involved.

Superintendent and policy committee members said the committee has revised policy language to reference Board of Elections regulations explicitly to reduce future confusion; the chair said the proposed revisions will receive a second reading and vote at the next meeting. No board action was taken on the policy tonight; the item remains for second reading at the Dec. 8 meeting.

The board did not provide a formal response to the allegation during public comment. Eiler thanked the board for their time and requested consistent enforcement safeguards going forward.
