Principals report smooth start to the year; community education previews fall events

Principals and community education staff told the Orange Board of Education that the 2025–26 school year opened smoothly and with strong participation.
Principals described welcome assemblies, a successful sixth‑grade orientation and activities emphasizing PBIS (positive behavioral interventions and supports). Brady Principal Bushberger noted high energy at the assemblies, 35 web leaders for the year and many new staff members gaining traction. Preschool staff reported 206 preschoolers enrolled, four new staff members and progress toward the Step Up to Quality goals.
Orange Community Education & Recreation said it would host a number of fall events, including an Art Center festival (about 350 attendees in four hours), a Senior Center dessert event Sept. 4, a community kids resale Oct. 4 and a trunk‑or‑treat Oct. 25 (scheduled Saturday afternoon to avoid dark conditions and football conflicts). OCR also reported more than 3,500 registrations across more than 600 courses and expects those numbers to grow through November and December.
Board members thanked principals and OCR staff for the smooth start and for organizing the planned family and community events.
