Orange Board adopts revised wellness policy and approves multiple consent items

The Orange Board of Education approved a revised wellness policy (Board Policy 85‑10) and a series of consent agenda items during its Aug. 25 regular meeting.

The board unanimously adopted the second reading of the revised wellness policy after a motion and second. The board also voted to approve a resolution from the Suburban Health Consortium that, as explained to the board, narrows the consortium’s executive board, names Brexville Broadview Heights Schools as the new fiscal agent and allows contracting with third parties for support services. The board approved several contracts on the consent agenda, including transportation services ($13,650) and Achievement Advantage literacy assessment and instruction to serve about 200 students in 2025–26 ($21,600).

Treasurer staff presented and the board approved a financial consent resolution (a then‑and‑now certificate) and an operations/business services consent resolution authorizing disposals from the high school media center and athletic department. The board also approved general personnel consent resolutions and acknowledged the retirement of longtime employee John Record after roughly 23 years of service.

Motions were made and seconded for each item listed on the consent agenda; roll call votes were recorded for each motion with the present board members voting yes. The meeting concluded with a unanimous vote to adjourn into executive session for personnel matters related to appointment/employment and conferences with legal counsel about pending or imminent court action.
