Brunswick Board approves routine finance, contract and personnel measures, ratifies BEA agreement

At their Jan. 20 meeting, the Brunswick Board of Education approved a package of routine fiscal, contract and personnel items on the treasurer's and superintendent's recommendations.
Key board actions included approval of the financial and investment report for December 2025; an appropriation modification to the building fund and an OHSAA tournament fund; a $4,546.74 fund‑to‑fund transfer for accounting reclassification; and approval of the tax budget for fiscal year 2027 for submission to the county budget commission. The board also approved then‑and‑now certificates for a series of vendor payments (audiology, visually impaired services, trauma‑informed care, fiber cabling and document scanning/shredding).
Construction and capital actions included approval of 10 construction change orders and an amendment to a consultant agreement related to the new high school project (project SFC‑230494). Trustees adopted a resolution affirming the purchase order for three buses from Cardinal Bus Sales and Service.
On superintendent recommendations, the board accepted multiple donations (including funds to cover outstanding lunch debt and food/personal care donations), approved College Credit Plus memorandums of understanding with Kent State and LCCC for 2026–27, and authorized district leaders to finalize a tentative agreement with the Brunswick Education Association reached Dec. 18, 2025.
The board also approved a one‑day SAT preparation contract for March 7, 2026 (provider: Laura Accardi at ACT Prep) and authorized SchoolLinks as the district's new guidance software (replacing Naviance) effective March 1, 2026. Multiple personnel items (resignations, leaves, hires, supplemental contracts and non‑scheduled workdays) were approved; trustees noted progress in hiring bus drivers.
All motions were moved and seconded on the record and carried by roll calls as listed in the meeting minutes. No votes failed or were tabled.
