Port Hueneme honors DL Fresh Foundation as local donors spotlight investments in youth programs

The Port Hueneme City Council opened its Feb. 17 meeting with an inspiration honoring Diane Fresh and the DL Fresh Foundation for philanthropic support to local youth programs.
Council member Steven Gama described the foundation’s contributions to Hueneme High School’s robotics team, junior ROTC, and band. Students and mentors told the council the foundation’s grants helped the robotics team travel to competitions, purchase equipment and increase participation; one student said the support ‘‘gave our students confidence and the opportunity...to achieve more.’’
Several NJROTC instructors and cadets described trophies and competition qualifications that the grant helped secure, and Diane Fresh thanked the community and urged the students to ‘‘give back’’ and support others. Council presented a certificate recognizing the foundation’s efforts.
Council and staff commended the foundation and the community partners involved; the recognition preceded the evening’s business agenda.
