Contra Costa HazMat Commission approves minutes after members seek fuller record on hazmat transfer

The Contra Costa County Hazardous Materials Commission voted to approve its June meeting minutes after a short debate about level of detail. Commissioner Maureen Brennan said she was concerned the approved minutes were less complete than past notes produced by former staffer Michael Kent and that a public comment about the transfer of hazmat work to ConFire was not sufficiently recorded. "I've been very used to Michael Kent's extensive notes ... I feel like there's incomplete things here," Brennan said.
County staff and commissioners discussed options for improving minutes and flagged that full video and transcriptions are posted online. Adam Springer (assistant director/staff to the commission) and others said staff will bring a presentation to the commission about the transfer once planning is further along so commissioners can provide input. Chair (unnamed) moved to approve the minutes and a second was called; the commission conducted a roll call and the motion passed.
Commissioners asked staff to make it clear in future approved minutes, at minimum, which topics were discussed and to add a link or header noting that full video and transcripts are available for those who want more detail.
