Bradford County fair returns next week; county releases budget calendar and workshop dates

County and fair officials used the Feb. 19 meeting to preview next week’s Bradford County Fair and to outline the county budget calendar for 2026.

Paul Huntley, president of the county‑appointed Fair Association, thanked the board for support and introduced Harley Hutchison, the fair manager. Hutchison said Dreamland Amusements will present the Midway and described livestock exhibits, youth contests and family entertainment. "This year's Midway will be presented by Dreamland Amusements alongside all of your favorite livestock exhibits, youth showcases, and family entertainment," Hutchison said. The fair is scheduled to open next Thursday with a 4 p.m. ribbon cutting.

County staff also reviewed the 2026 calendar and budget process. Staff announced budget‑workshop dates on March 3 and May 21, with additional public hearings to adopt tentative and final millage rates planned for September. Staff reported that building and zoning issued 1,836 permits last year and that the county recorded 124 new single‑family dwellings and mobile homes in the prior year.

Why it matters: The fair is a major community event and the budget calendar sets legal deadlines for millage and budget adoption. Officials encouraged resident participation in both the fair and upcoming workshops.
