Gila County Community Services presented a funding agreement (through the Arizona Department of Housing) that will allow the county to pass through APS and Southwest Gas utility-assistance funds to local residents. Director Josh Beck told supervisors the arrangement is a practical conduit for those funds and that the county also receives state and federal utility assistance funding.
Beck provided broader context, saying weatherization allocations the county manages have generally been around $850,000 per year and utility-assistance funds around $400,000–$450,000 annually, with higher totals during the COVID period. The board moved and approved the funding agreement (number 204-26) covering 1/1/2026–12/31/2026 in the amount of $266,490.
Supervisors thanked staff and approved the motion; the county will administer the funding through its Community Services Division.
