The Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted a resolution on Dec. 10 proclaiming Dec. 14, 2024 as Nevada County Toy Run Day.
Eric Oliver, president of the Nevada County Toy Run, and local volunteers briefed the board on event logistics and need: organizers reported 660 families registered and about 1,900 children on the list, with roughly 80 families on a wait list. The program will distribute meats (turkey/ham/chicken) and sides via partnerships with Interfaith Food Ministry and Nevada County Food Bank and will use the fairgrounds (Gate 1) as a drive-through donation site for additional drop-offs ahead of the event.
Board members thanked organizers and affirmed county support for parking, traffic coordination and interagency assistance. The clerk called the roll and the resolution passed with five 'Yes' votes.
