Board honors Phoebe Bell, proclaims Weights & Measures Week and Youth Art Month

During its Feb. 17 session the Board issued a certificate recognizing Phoebe Bell’s 12 years of behavioral-health service, proclaimed March as National Weights and Measures Week, and adopted a resolution naming March 2026 Youth Art Month in Nevada County.
The Nevada County Board of Supervisors used part of its Feb. 17 agenda for recognition and proclamations, honoring long-serving staff and highlighting county programs.
The board presented a certificate of recognition to Phoebe Bell for 12 years of service in behavioral health; supervisors and outside stakeholders praised her leadership on projects ranging from the Truckee Navigation Center to expansion of residential treatment beds. Phoebe Bell thanked colleagues and staff and noted the strength of the behavioral-health team that will continue work after her departure.
The board also received a presentation from Agricultural Commissioner Kristen Ise about the role of county sealers of weights and measures, viewed a short video that explained county inspection work (scales, gas pumps, packaged goods and EV charger accuracy), and adopted a resolution proclaiming March as National Weights and Measures Week.
Finally, County Superintendent Scott Lay and Kimberly Parker presented school and community arts programming and Prop 28 funding use; the board adopted a resolution proclaiming March 2026 as Youth Art Month and highlighted partnerships with community organizations and the county’s Young at Art exhibit.
These items passed by unanimous roll call.
