Sheldon ISD presents annual TAPER report and HB3 targets; district to post details within two weeks

Miss Gallo, a district presenter, opened the required public hearing on the district's annual report, telling the community the Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPER) compiles 2024'25 data and will be made publicly available as required by the Texas Education Agency.
"The purpose of this public hearing is to share with the community information that the Texas Education Agency requires us to make public annually," Miss Gallo said. She described the TAPER cover page, accountability ratings, special education determinations and school- and district-level STAR performance broken out by approaches, meets and masters.
The presentation described the report's other sections: student and staff demographic data; attendance, graduation and dropout rates; college, career and military readiness (CCMR) indicators; bilingual education measures; campus improvement plans; a glossary in English and Spanish; and financial reports to be posted in the district lobby and on the website. Miss Gallo noted that the district compiles the data from its PEIMS submission and that each campus also has its own TAPER page.
On state-mandated HB3 goals, Miss Gallo said the district has five-year targets for early literacy and math. She cited the district's third-grade baseline at 35% meeting the state 'meets' standard in 2023 and the state'set 2027 goal of 46%. For CCMR, she said the district set an internal goal to reach 88% by 2027 (baseline 75% in 2023) and explained the district's three focus areas to increase CCMR: TSI/ACT/SAT performance, dual-credit accumulation (nine or more hours), and CTE industry-based certifications.
Miss Gallo told the board and the public that the full eight-section annual report and related campus tables will be posted to the district's legal postings page and on campus lobbies within two weeks of the hearing, and she provided contact information for community members who want further explanation of the data.
The meeting record shows the board then proceeded with ceremonial items and other agenda business; no board action was required to post the report.
The annual report and its TAPER data are available to the public on Sheldon ISD's website under legal postings once the two-week posting period elapses.
