Norfolk County approves three-year audit contract with CBIZ; accepts trial balances and warrants

Norfolk County commissioners voted Feb. 11 to award a three-year auditing-services contract to CBIZ and cleared a series of financial items including payroll and expense warrants and two trial balances.
Procurement: Director Cronin reported that CBIZ (the incumbent, following the acquisition of Powers & Sullivan) submitted a bid proposing fees of $65,000 for fiscal year 2025, $67,000 for FY2026 and $69,000 for FY2027. Cronin said the figure represents an increase from the county’s current auditing fee of $50,000; negotiations were attempted but the vendor held to its proposal. Cronin recommended approval to maintain continuity of audit services. The commission moved, seconded and approved the three-year contract by roll call.
Warrants and trial balances: Commissioners also approved payroll warrant 26-32 for $143,697.09, an expense warrant (2000206) for $269,539.78 and a bank/bond item for $123,146.88. The board moved and adopted acceptance of the Oct. 31, 2025 trial balance totaling $32,970,028.11 and the Nov. 30, 2025 trial balance totaling $32,040,581.61.
