Gage County board approves routine claims, fair liquor licenses and a settlement after a closed session

The Gage County Board of Supervisors conducted a series of routine actions during its July 10 meeting, including approval of claims, licenses and a settlement agreement.

The chair presented the consent agenda, which included minutes and claims. The consent agenda was approved (motion by Supervisor Swavely, second by Supervisor Dorn; 6 in favor). Separately, claim number 24070063 to Johnny's Welding Inc. for $220.60 was approved (moved by Dorn, second by Swavely); the vote was 5 in favor with Mister Jurgens recorded as abstaining. The total amount of claims paid through July 10 was stated as $693,361.66.

The board approved four special designated liquor licenses for the Gage County Ag Society for fair events (Beer Garden, bull riding, concert grandstand and an alternate location in case of inclement weather) after the sheriff reported no objection (motion moved by Haxby, second by Jurgens; 6 in favor).

The board held a brief closed session to discuss a settlement and liability issues related to a trailer left on a roadway; after returning to open session the board approved a settlement and general release between Josh Carpenter and Gage County (motion by Dorn, second by Swavely; 6 in favor). The chair said the settlement was to address county liability for cleanup.

The board also approved a standard procedural 1% increase allowance on the lid for restricted funds (motion by Weidl, second by Jurgens; 6 in favor). No additional fiscal details were taken beyond those motions.
