Board denies Prohaska & Associates addendum for juvenile data, asks sheriff and counsel to follow up

The Gage County Board on Aug. 21 voted to disapprove an addendum from Prohaska & Associates that sought additional funding for juvenile-data work related to a needs assessment.
Supervisors voiced skepticism about a quoted supplemental fee (the contractor had cited a figure in the low thousands). “I have a very, very hard time thinking that that costs $3,600,” one supervisor said during discussion. Motion by Jerkins, seconded by Dorn, to deny the proposed addendum passed unanimously; supervisors also instructed the sheriff and county attorney to review the original contract to determine whether juvenile intake data was already part of the contracted scope and to require Prohaska to complete any work covered by the original agreement or to reimburse the county if it was not.
Board members said the county needs the juvenile information for planning any future facility decisions but expected the consultant to produce the contracted deliverables without repeated charge requests. The board also encouraged using Freedom of Information avenues and legislative contacts if state agencies hold the relevant records.
The sheriff and staff were asked to expedite the verification and report back to the board about the contract scope and next steps.
