Supervisors questioned how the draft’s listed per‑district numbers fit that total; after back‑and‑forth the sheriff and the chair clarified the intended structure: each district will be invoiced $1,200 in 10 monthly installments (a $12,000 annual payment per district), for a combined $36,000 annual contribution from the three districts, which the board described as half of the SRD cost. The chair summarized: “So it'll be a 10 month term for each school, 1,200 a month on that 10 month term. Total per school, $12,000. The 3 schools combined, 36,000 per annual.”
Supervisors expressed approval of the program’s goals—building connections between students and law enforcement—but asked staff to tidy the contract language and payment schedule so the invoices match the MOU text. With the clarified billing language included in the motion, the board approved the MOU unanimously.
County staff said the arrangement reduces the county’s immediate funding obligation by shifting part of the SRD cost to participating districts; Attorney Harris had reviewed the agreement and staff will finalize the invoicing schedule to match the approved terms.
